Finding Necessities (2020)

About the Exhibition

Finding Necessities navigates the viewer through works of curiosity, resistance, healing, and imagination. As we reconcile through the state of humanity in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and  social unrest, artists and creatives come together as a means of necessity for themselves, each other, and the diverse communities around them. The artists within this exhibition grapple with their past, present, and future realities in search of a clear understanding  of their lived experiences. Within their search, their imagination for the possibilities of new worlds transcends the mediums that they work within. As our current world grasps at the atmosphere for a sense of grounding, these artists, like many others among us, have floated further than we are yet able to see. In this moment, we look to them as we create our own pathways to finding our new necessities.
